A Special Announcement Regarding Our Work August 8, 2017

19 months ago God led us into full-time evangelistic work. We have seen His direction at each step on this journey. Some time ago the Lord began to stir in my heart a desire to have a younger man, a new evangelist, to travel with me in meetings. Divine confirmations have come repeatedly that this is truly God’s guidance.

It is wonderful to have my family traveling with me in ministry. Tammy and the kids are such an important part of what God has called me to do – both at home and on the road. They will continue to travel with me regularly, but with school schedules and other responsibilities it is not possible for them to be with me in every meeting.

I have been reminded that Christ sent His disciples out two by two. The Apostle Paul continued this pattern with a number of fellow evangelists in the early church. He always seemed to have a partner in ministry. Barnabas, Silas, Timothy, and Luke immediately come to mind. “Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour” (Ecclesiastes 4:19).

My desire is two-fold:

  1. I want to invest in the life of a younger man as so many have invested in my life.
  2. I want the accountability, prayer agreement, and fellowship of another like-minded preacher in the work God has called us to do.

I am thrilled to share that the Lord has made such an opportunity possible at this time. Chase Whitten is a graduate of Crown College. He and his precious wife Joy labored in England for more than two years, and have now returned to the States with a burden to continue evangelistic labors here. He is a fellow West Virginian, and, most of all, a fellow worker in the gospel.

Brother Chase will be traveling with me for a period of time as an associate evangelist. He will be with me in a number of meetings and will also be taking meetings on his own. Chase was an amateur national champion motocross rider before he yielded his life to Christ. Now, he utilizes the motorcycle as a tool to reach motocross athletes with the gospel. He also uses his skills in youth meetings and local church evangelistic events. His passion is to preach the gospel and teach others to do the same!

It is a privilege to recommend Chase and Joy Whitten to you. Both are genuine Christians and faithful witnesses. They are being sent out of our home church, the Cranberry Baptist Church in Beckley, WV. I believe that God is going to use them greatly. To contact Brother Chase directly you may write him at victorymxschool@gmail.com or call him at 304.661.6139.

Please pray for us as we move forward “with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel” (Philippians 1:27).

4 Marks of A Christian Christmas

M’Cheyne’s Bible Reading Plan Each year I adopt some plan for my daily devotional reading of Scripture. To be honest, I try to vary this a little each year to keep it fresh. Over the last year, I have been using a plan that Robert Murray M’Cheyne developed for the people that he pastored. It is helpful for several reasons: It leads you through the Old Testament once and the New Testament and Psalms twice during the year. It gives a variety of Scripture passages to read each day - historical, prophetical, and devotional. It divides the readings into readings for the morning and for the evening. It promotes a reading for private devotions and one for family devotions. It encourages the church family to read through the Bible together. M’Cheyne’s heart was to strengthen families and the church family, while deepening the personal devotion of each Christian. I can tell you from personal experience, that it has been a delight to follow. (Read M'Cheyne's full introduction to his system HERE).  We have decided to make M’Cheyne’s plan available through Enjoying the Journey this year, with the prayer that God will use it to lead all of us to a life full of the Word in the days ahead. Download the interactive PDF.
