An Invitation To Preachers & Their Wives Scott Pauley

Tammy and I are very grateful for those who have ministered to us through the years. Ministers need ministered to as well! There are moments that the best thing you can do is slow down, refresh your own soul, and prepare for the next season of ministry.

It is with this in mind that Pastor Scott Hooks and I began The Preacher’s Rest last year. We were so pleased at the great number of fellow preachers and their wives who joined us and are excited about this year’s gathering, Monday-Wednesday, September 2-4, 2019. What better time than Labor Day to “come apart” and find spiritual, mental, and physical renewal!

This year we look forward to discussing the devotional life of those in ministry and believe that the sessions will be very helpful. Pastor Dean Miller, Pastor Tony Shirley, Pastor James Pauley, and Brother Bob Crichton will join us in sharing the truths God is teaching them.

The fellowship and free time will be good for you too! Bring your spouse if possible and come to Hickory, NC for a couple of days. We look forward to seeing you.

Go to thepreachersrest.com to watch a highlight video from last year, view this year’s basic schedule, and register.

Pray for the Grieving

Sunday evening and midweek meetings of the local church have fallen on hard times. In many places, they are comprised of a few people scattered in a mostly empty auditorium or huddled together in a small room. Dwindling congregations in the midst of an ever exploding world population. Where is everyone?

What Happened to Evening Church Meetings?

The remains of the Roman amphitheater in Durres, Albania. By tradition, Paul preached here in the city of Durres when he came to Illyricum. We know from Acts that Paul liked to go where the crowds were so he could conceivably have preached right here. Photo by John Buckner
