Evangelist Scott Pauley
Scott's Biography
Scott Pauley was raised in the mountains of West Virginia. He came to know the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior while a young man. At twelve years old, God called him to be a preacher. They have three grown children and recently became “Papa” and “Nana.” The Pauley’s have served the Lord together in local church ministry and evangelism for over 25 years.

Right On Time
Right On Time We live in time. 60 minutes an hour. 24 hours a day. 7 days a week. 52 weeks a year. For as many years as God chooses to grant us. But our God is not bound by time. He is eternal and time is in Him. Often time seems to move slowly, especially when we are living in the middle of uncomfortable circumstances. It is then that we must remember that God is a God of perfect…
Read MoreAre You A Storyteller?
Life is a story. Moses wrote in the oldest Psalm, “We spend our years as a tale that is told” (Psalm 90:9). Perhaps that is why people around the world love to hear a good story – in some way, we can all identify. We weep at tragedies, laugh at comedies, and thrill at adventures. The ancients passed along truth through story telling, and Scripture is full of historical and biographical accounts given as examples of God’s truth. When Christ…
Read MoreDo You Have Questions?
Do You Have Questions? The first recorded question in Scripture was whispered by Satan, “Yea, hath God said?” It was he who knew truth and willingly rejected it, that first inserted uncertainty and chaos into God’s perfect creation. As sin came, the questions grew. Light disobeyed became darkness – a constant reminder that when man rejects truth He can only believe lies and plunge deeper into ignorance. God is not the author of confusion (1 Corinthians 14:33). He is truth…

The following article was written by Scott Pauley for the God Bless America Magazine. If you have not read this vital work, please do so HERE. As we approach the election, God’s people are seeking to find His direction. This edition of the magazine will help you think Biblically about our nation and our responsibility. It Is Time For Some Good News! Civilizations crumble and cultures corrode, not because of political or economic issues, but because of spiritual ones. Sin destroys everything…
Read MoreAn Hour Of Prayer
An Hour Of Prayer These are days of great spiritual need in our nation. Only revival can bring lasting change and only God can bring revival. It is prayer time in America. The Lord Jesus said of the power that brings spiritual breakthrough, “Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.” Desperate times call for desperate prayers! Our country needs more than a political election – it needs a spiritual awakening! A great group of us joined…
Read More5 Things to Do When Others Fall
Sin brings heartbreak to lives, families, and churches. All of us grieve over the fall of people we have loved, and even some whom we have followed. Our response to the failure of others has implications for them, for us, and for the larger work of God. David, the man after God’s own heart, is one of the finest demonstrations of this principle in all of Scripture. King Saul, motivated by jealousy, had made David’s life very difficult. In 2…

Elijah | A Man Like Us In Times Like Ours These are days of political turmoil, economic uncertainty, natural disasters, moral confusion, social unrest, and spiritual lethargy. “It’s never been like this before!” Actually, it has. The historical books of the Bible are a tremendous reminder of the wicked times of previous generations and the men and women who stood faithfully for truth in the midst of them. Enter Elijah… Elijah was a man like us in times like ours. We…
Read MoreOur Attitude Toward Those Who Fall
Our Attitude Toward Those Who Fall We are all fallen creatures, living in a fallen world, and surrounded by other fallen people. The entrance of sin into the human race is rightly called “The Fall” because sin never lifts a man – it always causes a downward spiral away from God. Our entire world groans under the effects of the fall (Romans 8:22-23), and our only hope is Christ. Saved people still have a sin nature, and sometimes even God’s…

The Crucified Life As a boy, I came to faith in Jesus Christ, and as a young man, I began serving the Lord. Yet in those early years, I often sensed that something was missing. I worked, prayed, studied, and tried – but soon reached a breaking point. Human effort and good intentions are never enough. In the good providence of God I came in contact with a wonderful book by V. Raymond Edman, They Found the Secret. Through it, I…

Fellow Helpers to the Truth The Apostle John wrote to a man named Gaius in 3 John. In the shortest book of the Bible (294 words), the Holy Spirit commends this good man for his desire to minister to others in the work of God. Verses five through eight record John’s request for his ongoing support: “Beloved, thou doest faithfully whatsoever thou doest to the brethren, and to strangers; Which have borne witness of thy charity before the church: whom…

Whatever Happened to the Fear of God? Several years ago I had lunch with a precious husband and wife who had been in the Lord’s work for many years. In their early days, they had been part of a great revival movement and had personally seen spiritual awakenings in different places. As we talked about the history of great revivals I asked them why they thought we had not seen a spiritual awakening in our day. The answer, spoken softly…

The Right Way: Making Decisions and Finding Direction for Life’s Journey Life is full of decisions. As a young man, I assumed that by a certain age, I would have made all of the big decisions, but I am learning that important choices must be made at every stage of life. There are junctures all along life’s journey where you will have to decide which way to go – and the crossroads of life have enormous consequences. “Decisions determine direction,…

On Purpose! These are days of immense confusion in our culture because sin always brings disorder! One of the most devastating consequences of this confusion is its residual effect on the next generation. The ripple effect of error has created a tidal wave of destruction. Children are now growing up in a world that questions gender and loses its identity. When you don’t know who God is you forget who you are. Only the Word of God can cut through…

Crossing Another Mile Marker On a recent trip, we were traveling with several vehicles. Over the course of time and in the midst of traffic we eventually became spaced out. It was helpful to communicate with one another what mile marker we each were at so that we could keep up with one another! We are journeying through Scripture with so many of you and it is a wonderful trip. This week I have met so many people who…
Read MoreThe Bible is The Word of God
The Bible is The Word of God Few people want to talk about it and even fewer understand it. Yet, all of life boils down to authority: whose authority will we live under? A spirit of rebellion characterizes the unregenerate world. Even many believers miss the truth that they live life under divine authority. Because modern Christianity is defined by emotion, experiences, and extra-biblical teaching, it displays evidence that many have forgotten the principle of biblical authority. Our authority is not human…

6 Reasons the World Is Getting More Insane…And Why It Will Continue Have you noticed in recent days the tragic loss of logic? Relativism has eaten away at the foundation of realism and the most ludicrous ideas are now accepted. This insanity is not due to a lack of education or information. It is not just a “mental health crisis.” The derangement and delusion we are seeing in the world is spiritual in nature. Remember that when the prodigal son…
Read MoreGospel Journeyman
Schools, colleges, and seminaries have made a valuable investment in my life and ministry. In fact, authors and speakers whom I have never met personally have been used by God to enlarge my understanding and shape my thinking. But as I reflect on the last 35 years since the Lord called me to preach, I am increasingly conscious that it has been specific people who have poured into my life and influenced me the most. Institutions teach. Individuals train. While…

“Pastor, I hope God will use my life as He is using yours.” Those were the words I spoke to my pastor as we rode in a car together one afternoon just outside our nation’s Capitol. I was about 21 years of age and very young in the Lord’s work. Pastor Sexton was quiet for a few moments before he spoke. What he said next, I will never forget. “Scott, there are two types of people in God’s work: those…
Read MoreFamily Night
Family Night Friday night was family night at our house growing up. Dad traveled for business through the week and, once he started preaching, preached in area churches many nights. But Friday night was different. It had been, to borrow a Bible expression, “set apart” specifically for us to be together. As I have grown older it has become more evident what a special (and wise) arrangement this was for our family. Like most modern homes, life is busy, time is…
Read More3 Benefits of Memorizing Scripture (and How to Begin!)
It was David, the man after God’s own heart, who wrote, “Thy word have I hid in mine heart that I might not sin against thee” (Psalm 119:11). You may take an extended portion of Scripture to memorize, such as a chapter or a book. This certainly encourages you to see individual texts in their larger context. Memorizing Scripture topically enables you to target specific subjects or areas of life that need attention. Memorization is for meditation. Bible memory should…

Yes, Doctrine Matters! “We have found a new church and it is wonderful! Everyone has a great time, and they don’t talk about doctrine.” I cannot tell you how often in recent days I have heard something like this statement. Doctrine is not a dirty word. The word means “belief and teaching.” Why would you go to a church where they do not believe or teach anything? We are in a spiritual warfare and the souls of men are at…

A Tool For Bible Teachers The best teachers are those who never cease being students. This is especially so when it comes to teachers of God’s Word. Scripture is the inexhaustible mine of God’s infinite truth. It is a thrill to roll up your sleeves, gather your tools, and crawl into the deep treasure trove of the Bible! David expressed this joy when he wrote, “And I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I have loved” (Psalm 119:47). God…

Read MorePartnering with Local Churches for a Gospel Advance
utAGospel work is the work of local churches and, as an evangelist, it is a great privilege to partner with pastors and churches for the advancement of the gospel. The gospel is still the power of God to salvation (Romans 1:16), the Holy Spirit is still at work (John 16:8), and Christ is still building His church (Matthew 16:18). If we believe this, then we should still be passionate about getting the gospel to others! The Great Commission must be obeyed individually. However, the impact of it…
