A Joyful Report May 13, 2019

The last few weeks have been some of the busiest and most blessed we have seen in our evangelistic work. I know this is due to the Lord’s grace and the faithful prayers of so many people. With the intense schedule I have not posted as many articles as normal. We hope to return to that shortly! But I wanted to pass along a few answers to prayer and encourage you with what God is doing…

  • The Lord has given a spirit of revival in a number of local churches in different parts of the country. I am often asked what we see frequently in churches. Right now there is a spiritual hunger among many of the Lord’s people. God always has a remnant! Now is the time for us to intensify our prayers for a real revival.
  • The God Bless America Rally was particularly touched of God. There was a real unity among God’s people from 16+ churches, a spirit of prayer. I am convinced this is the reason we experienced such a move of the Holy Spirit. More than 200 precious souls professed faith in Christ over the course of the campaign. A great majority of those were personally led to Christ by believers who got stirred to share the gospel with others. We are still hearing about people being saved. Each of the new believers is being followed up by one of the supporting churches. Our goal is not decisions – it is disciples. Pray with us that there will be “fruit that remains.”
  • The 2nd annual WVGrads Baccalaureate Service in Beckley, WV was conducted last night. There were high school seniors and their families from 9 area high schools present. Governor Jim Justice gave an encouraging word to the 2019 graduates and I had the privilege to give a gospel message. We saw 32 precious souls profess faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior! 15 local churches supported the meeting, along with a number of area businesses. Our own home church family worked tirelessly as a team to make it a great night. How wonderful to see churches reaching their communities for Christ!

The Lord Jesus told us that “joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth” (Luke 15:7). If there is joy in heaven, there ought to be joy on earth! Our Lord rejoices over every one that He saves (Zephaniah 3:17). Let’s join Him in that joy!

O Lord, we praise you for every thing you are doing and we pray that you will do much more to advance your own name and cause in our day…Use us all to bring someone to Jesus and to bring glory to God.

M’Cheyne’s Bible Reading Plan Each year I adopt some plan for my daily devotional reading of Scripture. To be honest, I try to vary this a little each year to keep it fresh. Over the last year, I have been using a plan that Robert Murray M’Cheyne developed for the people that he pastored. It is helpful for several reasons: It leads you through the Old Testament once and the New Testament and Psalms twice during the year. It gives a variety of Scripture passages to read each day - historical, prophetical, and devotional. It divides the readings into readings for the morning and for the evening. It promotes a reading for private devotions and one for family devotions. It encourages the church family to read through the Bible together. M’Cheyne’s heart was to strengthen families and the church family, while deepening the personal devotion of each Christian. I can tell you from personal experience, that it has been a delight to follow. (Read M'Cheyne's full introduction to his system HERE).  We have decided to make M’Cheyne’s plan available through Enjoying the Journey this year, with the prayer that God will use it to lead all of us to a life full of the Word in the days ahead. Download the interactive PDF.

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof” (Proverbs 18:21).  Weighing less than two ounces, the tongue is one of the smallest members of the human body. Yet it has such power.
