Teens for Christ Scott Pauley

One of the greatest privileges of my life has been the opportunity to work with young people. Youth ministry is not a stepping stone to another ministry. It is the work of a lifetime!

D.L. Moody said if he had his whole life to live other he would give it all to working with children. I truly believe that the greatest work on earth is influencing the next generation with the truth of God’s Word and pointing them to Jesus Christ. When I was 12 years old God changed my life at a summer youth camp. I have never been the same.

There are more young people alive at this moment than there have ever been. The majority have never heard the gospel. Those who have are largely unengaged by any local church. This is our moment. We must not waste it.

For the last several years it has been a blessing to work in the youth ministry of the Temple Baptist Church and help to train youth workers at Crown College. In addition I have enjoyed working in our camp ministry and helping to coordinate public school Bible clubs. I am truly privileged to work under a pastor who has a passion to make a difference. My heart is burdened to see more done. Is yours?

1. Let’s pray for each other and for this generation.

  • Pray for a spiritual awakening among teenagers.
  • Pray for an army of laborers to enlist in this great work.
  • Pray for Christian young people to begin aggressively witnessing to their friends.
  • Pray for youth workers and parents not to give up.

2. Visit TeensForChristInternational.com to see helpful resources.

ImageWe don’t have all the answers but we are trying to do what we can to help youth workers, parents, and teenagers. You will find Bible messages for young people, Christ-honoring Christian music, Bible reading schedules, recommended Christian camps and Bible colleges, youth worker training sessions, and much more.

Additional content is being added. We would love to hear your suggestions and thoughts.

3. Subscribe to my blog scottpauley.wordpress.com.

I intend to post regularly on the subject of family and youth ministry and hope it will be a source of encouragement to you. It would also be great to hear from you personally. You can reach me at [email protected].

4. Join us at this year’s Youth Congress.

I know there are a lot of great meetings to choose from and the summer is only so long. This congress is a group of representatives from churches across the country who come to cast their vote for revival in our generation. We have a great time but the purpose is serious business. You will not regret bringing your teens to this meeting.

The Youth Congress is held on the campus of Temple Baptist Church and Crown College in Powell, TN. This year the gathering of teens and young people will be Monday-Friday, July 8-12, 2013. Kenny Baldwin, Kurt Skelly, Pastor Sexton, and others will be speaking! It is going to be a great meeting and I would love to see you there.

You can find more information online at youthcongress.us.

5. Follow @TFC_Intl on Twitter.

This will give us an opportunity to stay in touch about upcoming opportunities.

Thank you for your desire to reach and teach another generation of Teens for Christ. May God use us all to make a difference while we can.

A journey through 1 John reveals our place in the family of God, how we can have assurance, and that our joy is rooted in Christ.

Journey through 1 John

“Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile! Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.” (John 1:47-48)

Why the Story of Nathanael Sitting Under the Fig Tree Matters

It also discusses the Four Sermons in Haggai It is in that context that God raises up the prophet Haggai with four sermons in four months. The Word of the Lord comes to Haggai, and he preaches four sermons. Each one of them is dated for us. Each sermon targets a different problem. You can read them in Haggai chapters one and two. In his first sermon (Haggai 1:1-15), Haggai preached on the danger of waiting when we should be working. They were waiting for a sign to build. He said, You don't need a sign, you need to obey God. Haggai's second sermon (Haggai 2:1-9) explained the danger of lamenting the past and missing the present. They were sorrowing over the destruction of the past temple. God said, Build a new one. It was G. Campbell Morgan who said, “It is impossible to unlock the present with the rusty key of the past." Many people are bogged down in their past and miss the present. Keep in mind what is at hand and what is ahead. The third sermon he preached (Haggai 2:10-19) described the danger of seeing only the material and neglecting the supernatural. They could see the work that needed to be done, but they missed the fact that God had resources that would help them get it done. The Lord was behind all of this. The fourth sermon (Haggai 2:20-23) warned against the danger of recognizing who is against us and forgetting who is for us. They were concentrating on the opposition and forgetting that “greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4). A journey through Haggai shows us the importance of performing the work that God has told us to do, and His glory in our obedience. Image leads to an overview of Haggai
