And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not” (Galatians 6:9).

Weariness is common among workers. You cannot always put your finger on it – it may be physical, mental, emotional, spiritual – maybe a combination of different factors. Sometimes we must press through and work through the weary season. But sometimes it is best to come apart and rest awhile (Mark 6:31).

We are just days away from The Preacher’s Rest and I want to encourage preachers and their wives to join us in Hickory, NC for this special time of refreshing. (Watch last year’s highlight video.) This year we will examine what is essential for ministers to keep a healthy soul. It will be an encouraging time of fellowship with the Lord and one another.

It has been a busy summer of ministry for so many. We want to go into the final months of this year strong and prepared to help others. Rest is not just to follow labor, but also to precede it. We gather strength for the labor ahead! Plan to set aside Monday evening, September 2 – Wednesday morning, September 4 to recharge your batteries. You may find the complete schedule and more details at thepreachersrest.com

Pastor Scott Hooks and the wonderful church family at Tabernacle Baptist Church are gracious hosts. If you have not yet done so I would like to encourage you to register and make your lodging reservations today. This will help us with final preparations. If we can help you in any way please let us know.

One special thing about The Preacher’s Rest is that it is not just for preachers! Everything has been designed to encourage the preacher’s most important helper, his wife. We believe you both will enjoy this “marriage retreat for ministers.” Tammy and I look forward to seeing you there!
