God’s Timing and the Next Step June 27, 2023

Eight years ago God began stirring in my heart about the evangelistic work He has now given us to do. The Holy Spirit led in unmistakable ways and we have simply tried to follow. More and more I am reminded that we are incapable of accomplishing anything of eternal value, but the Lord is able to do “exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think” (Ephesians 3:20).

God has proven Himself, and we give Him the glory for every good thing. At this juncture on our journey, we know that it is God’s time for us to take the next step. I have learned by experience that His timing is a vital part of His will, and His timing is always perfect.

There are two immediate steps that God has led us to take:

1. We are in the process of building a team to enlarge the work. To influence more people, you must involve more people! Our Lord Jesus surrounded Himself with laborers in training and, when His time with them was done, they turned the world upside down with the gospel. The Apostle Paul consistently worked alongside fellow ministers to further the message of Christ. This is the Biblical pattern and we are convinced it must be followed.

My goal has never been to operate as a “lone ranger.” In fact, I believe the evangelist comes alongside every pastor that he serves with as a co-laborer. I also am convinced we need more evangelists, and it is vital that we enlist and engage many more in the work of the gospel.

Evangelist Chase Whitten has been working with us and God is blessing his ministry. We are excited to announce that Micah and Ana Hendry are now joining the ETJ team full-time. Micah has been working with so many of our gospel projects behind the scenes for some time. If you have been blessed by the daily podcast you should know that all of the technical labor is done by this fine young man.

The Hendry’s have both recently finished their training at Crown College and are excited to give themselves to the work of getting the Word to as many people as possible. Micah is already a capable Bible preacher and will be available for meetings. They have extensive experience working with children and will be a tremendous help to pastors and churches. (You may contact him directly at micah@enjoyingthejourney.org.)

Much of his work will be in the development of Bible study resources, the extension of Enjoying the Journey through media, and the coordination of gospel projects. We are excited to see how God will multiply the message to people around the world in the days ahead.

2. We have now secured a facility to be used as a launching pad for Enjoying the Journey. The Compass House is located near both our own home and sending church in Beckley and will provide a place for our team to work and meet, a studio where we can record, and plenty of storage space for resources. This house has been recently acquired and will need some remodeling and outfitting, but we believe it will serve the purpose that is needed at this time.

All of this is a step of faith, and we know that God always meets us along the way as we obey Him. Several people have asked how they can have a part as we move forward. There are two ways friends of Enjoying the Journey can be a great help…

  • Intercession. We need your prayers more than ever. Wherever God is blessing, I am always conscious that someone, somewhere is praying. You may not be able to go with us to each place where God sends us to preach, but you can go with us in prayer. Please pray for the Lord’s protection and provision. Pray specifically for divine favor and spiritual fruit. Pray for souls to be saved and God’s people awakened. (If you have not signed up for prayer partner updates you may do so here.)
  • Investment. The Lord did not lead us to raise support when we went into evangelism. We are grateful for every individual and church that has encouraged us in this faith work and can testify that the Master always takes care of His servants. I am not asking anything for myself or for our family. Everything that God may lead you to give will be used to help us develop our team, function without debt, and further the gospel resources and Bible teaching to as many people as possible. If you would like to support Enjoying the Journey you may do so through the donate portal on our website. All gifts are tax-deductible and will go directly into the ministry fund.

If you have additional questions about how you can partner with us please feel free to reach out. Time is short and we long to do what we can while we have the opportunity. May God bless and use you “for the gospel’s sake” where He has placed you. We look forward to seeing you along the way!

Just as a pillar supports a building, so the right doctrine guards the church.

Yes, Doctrine Matters!

What Can We Learn From Jonah?

The King Herod who built the Herodium is the same Herod who tried to kill Jesus, and ordered the slaughter of the babies in nearby Bethlehem. He knew his subjects hated him, so before he died, he provided for his tomb to be guarded after his death. After a couple of years, the money ran out so the guards went home. The vengeful locals trashed his palace and smashed his ornate mausoleum to tiny pieces.

Thank you for all that you do. Love the quote “Don’t take your cues from the news! God’s people find their hope in heaven. Our expectation is from the Lord.”
