“Do you enjoy what you are doing?” I hear this question often. The answer for me is…absolutely! While there are challenges in every work, there is nothing as fulfilling as being in the will of God.

There are many needy places around this world and one individual cannot go everywhere or do everything. We all must find God’s choice for us. The will of God for some will be an obscure village or a small town. God’s will is not done by our logical schemes and plans; it must be done God’s way.

Philippians 2:13 teaches, “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” God meets us along the path of His will. He has divine appointments for each of His servants.

Our Lord went many miles out of His way to go through Samaria. John 4:4 says, “And he must needs go through Samaria.” It was not the Samaritan woman’s need alone that compelled His journey. This was the will of His Father. In the end, many men and women came to believe on the Lord Jesus.

When Philip was called away from a populous city to a desert place, he was following the will of God. God is just as interested in individuals as He is in nations. Vision is not always something bigger than our current situation. It may, in fact, be a divine appointment with one soul.

Paul and Silas were in prison in the will of God. The apostle John was exiled on the isle of Patmos in the will of God. Charles Spurgeon missed one third of his preaching engagements in his own pulpit in the will of God. We cannot always see what the Lord is doing, but we can be confident He is at work.

The only thing we must be concerned with is staying in the center of His will. Details are in His hand, and so are the results. You may not love every place and every task. But you can learn to love what you do by loving the One you are doing it for.

Do you enjoy what you do?

Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass” (Psalm 37:4-5).
