This week we witnessed a majority of the House of Representatives vote in favor of impeachment of the President. For months we have heard the most opprobrious language hurled back and forth between leaders.
What is next? Our tremendous United States Constitution states: “The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments. When sitting for that Purpose, they shall be on Oath or Affirmation. When the President of the United States is tried, the Chief Justice shall preside: And no Person shall be convicted without the Concurrence of two thirds of the Members present.” (Article 1, Section 3, Clause 6)
However, even with the power of our political leaders, plus our government agencies with their manifold programs, they can not solve the problems of our beloved country. Whether our country survives is in the sovereign Hands of God.
What should our leaders and citizens remember? America should be supremely invested in doing God’s will. God judges countries based on obedience or disobedience of the mandates of Heaven. If America continues in our present disobedience, we should expect nothing short of insurrection, riot, moral decay, and finally total disaster.
The Lord who judged Sodom and Gomorrah, the Lord who judged Israel, the Lord who judged Nazi Germany; is the same Lord who sits in His sovereignty today. America is subject to the Lord.
It will always be true: “Except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it; except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.” (Psalm 127:1)
May every American repent of all known sin, and give ourselves completely to obedience to God Almighty and His Holy Word!
