Take The Day Off! Scott Pauley

Take the day off…Those are beautiful words. (Since you don’t work for me you should probably still show up for work today!) Why is it that we only seem to apply these words to areas of responsibility? For sure it is exciting to think about “a day off” from the normal routine, but what if we took a day off in other things?

Is there any thing that it would benefit you to take the day off from today?

What if…

  • We took the day off from television?
  • We took the day off from social media?
  • We took the day off from unnecessary texting and phone usage?

One day “off” may help us to get back “on” in real face-to-face relationships.

Better yet…

  • Take the day off from any critical speech.
  • Take the day off from that habit that has started to control your life.
  • Take the day off from the thought process that has become the new “default.”

Life is full of choices. Choices are both positive and negative. God’s Word says that Moses “refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter; choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season” (Hebrews 11:24-25).

Refusing and choosing always go together.

As you go out to work today or go about your duties at home, take the day off from anything that would keep you from knowing God’s best.
