Learning to Rejoice Again October 16, 2023

Listen To The Podcast

The only real and lasting joy is found in Jesus. The only way to enjoy the journey is to find the companionship of Christ along the way. What a thrill to know that in the midst of a sad world, God has made provision for His children to have a glad heart!

Are you a joyful believer?

Our Lord’s prescription for joyful Christian living is found in the little New Testament letter known as Philippians. Listen to the Spirit-inspired words of Paul, “Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice” (Philippians 4:4).

Paul had to repeat himself because we have to be reminded! God’s repetitions are never because He forgot He said something, but because He doesn’t want us to forget what He said. Again…we must learn to rejoice.

Six years ago we began our Enjoying the Journey daily broadcast with an initial study of Philippians. It is my favorite book of the Bible. Now, as we complete our 6th year of podcasts, and prepare to begin our 7th year, I want to share this series with you…again.

Paul was not ashamed to repeat foundational truths. In the same letter he wrote, “Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not grievous, but for you it is safe” (Philippians 3:1). The same things are the safe things, and we need them again and again.

There are many joy stealers. Sin robs us of joy. Even those who sincerely seek to serve Christ can miss the joy of the Holy Spirit. It is easy to lose our joy in the midst of difficult circumstances, strenuous labors, and a hateful world. This is why we must be reminded and encouraged to rejoice again.

We now have over 1,500 Enjoying the Journey episodes. To this point we have not repeated any of the episodes, but I feel definitely led to share our original study with you at this time. It is our hope that you will enjoy this special anniversary series, and my sincere prayer that you will be challenged to rejoice again.

(Please invite a friend to listen with you! Our podcast audience has grown significantly over the years and many people have never heard the Bible study that started the Enjoying the Journey ministry. Watch for several new series in the coming months. You may join us on Apple, Google, Spotify, Youtube, Audible, Pandora, Amazon Music, iHeart Radio, or at enjoyingthejourney.org. Thanks for listening! – The ETJ Team)

The Mountain of the House, also known as the Temple Mount, with the Mount of Olives in the background.
Some of the steps in the foreground date from the Second Temple period, and would have been the steps Jesus ascended. Archeologists have uncovered around 300 baptismal pools along the steps leading up to the Temple. They would be convenient for baptizing 3,000 people!
The Hebrew word ruakh can mean either spirit, wind, or breath. The Breath of God, the Spirit of God, and the Wind of God are all understood to be cognates.
