Fellow Helpers to the Truth

The Apostle John wrote to a man named Gaius in 3 John. In the shortest book of the Bible (294 words), the Holy Spirit commends this good man for his desire to minister to others in the work of God. Verses five through eight record John’s request for his ongoing support:

“Beloved, thou doest faithfully whatsoever thou doest to the brethren, and to strangers; Which have borne witness of thy charity before the church: whom if thou bring forward on their journey after a godly sort, thou shalt do well: Because that for his name’s sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles. We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be fellowhelpers to the truth.”

A team of gospel laborers needed the assistance of men like Gaius if they were going to continue to move “forward.”

These are critical days in our nation and the world. Time is short and Christ is coming. Whatever we are going to do to advance the gospel must be done now.

New Doors

I am happy to share that a number of new doors are opening for Enjoying the Journey to spread the truth of Christ and the teaching of Scripture to people around the world. From the very beginning our work has been a faith endeavor and the Lord has met us at every step. Local churches and individuals have been used by God to further the message to so many.

• First, let me say thank you. We are overwhelmed by the prayers and encouragement from friends who believe in this ministry. Only eternity will reveal the impact you are making.
• Second, we hope you will prayerfully consider how you could partner with us in these days. I am more aware than ever that it is the prayers of the Lord’s people that sustains us and prepares hearts for the preaching of the Word. 

Prayer Partners

Not everyone will be a preacher, but every believer can be a pray-er! Your prayers go where you cannot and they accomplish what men cannot. E.M. Bounds wrote that preachers need “to pray and to be prayed for.” Speaking of Paul’s itinerant gospel work he said, “Called, commissioned, chief of apostles as he was, all his equipment was imperfect without the prayers of his people.” Pray for your pastor. Frequently a discerning believer will ask, “What can I pray for specifically?” I would like to encourage you to read a brief article on “How To Pray for the Preacher.” There are seven prayer requests that Paul gave in Scripture which provide a good prayer list for those in ministry. (Click here to download and print this list.) You will not see all of the answers until the judgment seat of Christ but rest in the fact that your prayers are making a difference.

Many Channels – One Source

In addition to interceding for us, the Lord may prompt you to invest in this gospel effort. I believe that your tithe and offerings should go to your local church. From time to time, those who have been blessed by the Bible teaching and want to extend it to others desire to give to this ministry. We have made it our practice not to seek regular support, but to allow those who are led of the Lord to share in the expenses as they are prompted. God always has the resources and He knows how to use His people.
