Earlier this week I posted 5 Books to Read on Witnessing. In this season of “social distancing” and health fears it is possible that we could all lose sight of the greatest danger – souls being eternally lost. It would be a tragedy if, while we give attention to physical things, we neglect spiritual realities. People are dying every day in their sins and God’s people have the cure.
A few days ago I was preaching in another state. The pastor and a couple of ministry interns said that they were going out to speak to people door to door about the Lord. They were, of course, using every precaution and speaking to people only on the front steps of their homes. Frankly, I wondered how we would be received at this time when people are more nervous about interacting with others.
To my surprise people were exceptionally open to having a conversation. Maybe it is the weariness of being locked up for so many weeks or the fear and uncertainty that plagues the mind, but I was reminded that this may be one of the greatest moments for the gospel that we have ever had in our lifetime! We must not miss it.
- When there is fear, people need faith.
- When there is uncertainty, people need hope.
- When there is anger, people need love.
Right now in our world people need the faith, hope, and love that can only be found in Jesus Christ. Everything is changing in our world and this is our moment to tell them about the God who never changes! “And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity” (1 Corinthians 13:13).
God can use you at this time at some place, with someone to share Christ. Ask the Lord today to give you a moment for the gospel.
