Would You Help Me Help Preachers? August 23, 2018

Many years ago my pastor taught me that if you are a blessing to the preacher you have a part in helping all of those that he helps. God uses faithful preachers to teach us the Word of God. He uses faithful people to encourage the preacher.

The Apostle Paul said it this way: “Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things” (Galatians 6:6). This should begin in your own church and with the man the Lord has called to shepherd you and your family. Spiritual believers should seek to minister to the minister!

In just a few days Tammy and I have the privilege of helping to host a number of preachers and their wives at The Preacher’s Rest. We are excited about encouraging some of God’s servants on September 3-5. I would like to ask all of you who believe in what we are doing to have a part in helping us help these preachers.

  • Pray. Would you pray that every session and every conversation would have the touch of Heaven? Ask the Lord to refresh His men and the faithful wives who stand with them in the Lord’s work.
  • Invest. We are helping to house preachers as needed and are providing some special resources for them while they are there. Intentionally we have kept the cost to the preachers very low. Would you consider making a donation of any amount to help us show the love of God to as many as possible? You may give securely online at enjoyingthejourney.org/invest. All gifts are tax-deductible.
  • Share. If you know a preacher that would be helped by attending The Preacher’s Rest please share the invitation with them. Full information may be found at thepreachersrest.com. It is not too late to register and it would be our honor to have them.

God willing, we will pass along a full report to you in just a few days. Thank you for helping us help preachers.

What Can We Learn From Jonah?

The King Herod who built the Herodium is the same Herod who tried to kill Jesus, and ordered the slaughter of the babies in nearby Bethlehem. He knew his subjects hated him, so before he died, he provided for his tomb to be guarded after his death. After a couple of years, the money ran out so the guards went home. The vengeful locals trashed his palace and smashed his ornate mausoleum to tiny pieces.

The altar of sacrifice in front of the holy of holies in Arad. Even though it is a smaller imitation, the temple here gives the visitor an idea of how the Temple in Jerusalem appeared.
