Daily Witness (Daily Living – Part 8) Scott Pauley

DailyLiving-DailyWitness

Every day is a gift. Yes, they are a gift from God, but for the discerning Christian they are also a gift to God. The Lord grants us breath, health, and strength. We, in turn, give each day back to Him as a gift of gratitude. The Lord gives life and we are to live each day for His glory.

O, how selfish we can become! Our needs, our wants, our plans, and our schedules. All the while God is waiting on us to realize that He has a work for us to do. And those around us are waiting too.

Daily Witness

Every day there are precious souls within reach of our testimony. Lost, wandering people in search of something. Hurting hearts. Wayward children. It is no wonder that Christ must say to us, “Lift up your eyes, and look…” (John 4:35). We miss much around us every day. Heads down. In a hurry. Oblivious.

Lift up your eyes! Look! At every twist and turn there are divine appointments that must not be missed. At the grocery store. On the job. In your school. Everywhere!

What was the secret of the apostles evangelism? “And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ” (Acts 5:42). Christ spoke daily in the temple (Luke 19:47). His followers continued the pattern – they spoke of salvation daily in the marketplace (Acts 17:17). The practice of Daily Witness is exemplified in the life of Christ.

Labor for Souls Daily

As Paul and Timothy spoke for Christ day after day the Bible says, “And so were the churches established in the faith, and increased in number daily” (Acts 16:5). We think of Paul’s great ministry of preaching and writing. Remarkable events and experiences. But what of the normal days? The unrecorded moments? These were the times of great blessing and fruitfulness.

Too much of our Christian work has been reduced to something we do weekly. The early Christians lived and labored daily. And what worked then will work now.

Recently I heard a friend say that he was challenged in college to give his testimony and witness to someone every week. He began that practice as a student and to the glory of God has continued it for over ten years. Think of the number of people with whom he has been able to share Christ!

Share Jesus Every Day

D.L. Moody made a covenant with God that he would witness to one person every day. One night after ten o’clock he realized that he had failed that day to speak a word for the Lord. He dressed and went out into the streets of Chicago. The man he spoke to that night was not at all interested. In fact, he was angry that Moody had spoken to him about his soul. Three months later that man awakened Moody in the middle of the night to tell him he wanted to be saved!

This is the power of the daily witness. What if you and I began to speak to one person every day about the Lord Jesus Christ?

Daily Challenge: Ask God to give you one person every day with whom you can speak about Christ. Live looking for opportunities this week to share your personal testimony of faith in the Lord Jesus. Carry gospel literature with you every day and seek to witness to at least one individual.
