Yesterday was the 48th anniversary of Roe v. Wade. In less than a half a century over 61 million babies have been put to death by abortion. This barbarity parades as “reproductive health” but it is still what God called it in Scripture…”murder” (Exodus 20:13). The new administration put out a statement of their renewed commitment to abortion, saying that “now is the time to rededicate ourselves” to making it accessible to anyone who desires it.

May God have mercy on our land! Satan was a murderer from the beginning and he continues to do his ugly work today (John 8:44). I believe now is the time for true followers of Christ to rededicate ourselves to know what the Bible says and stand for life.

President Ronald Reagan issued a presidential proclamation on January 13, 1984, designating Sunday, January 22, 1984 as National Sanctity of Human Life Day, noting that it was the 11th anniversary of Roe v. Wade.

I am very thankful that President Reagan issued this proclamation, but I want to make sure that we understand as Christians and as a church family that sanctity of human life was established by God.

Human life is sacred and is a gift from God which is to be respected and protected. This teaching is called the sanctity of life. The Bible, the Word of God, teaches that human beings are created in the image of God. It also teaches that murder is forbidden.

Genesis 2:7 – And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Psalm 71:6 – By thee have I been holden up from the womb: thou art he that took me out of my mother’s bowels: my praise shall be continually of thee.

Psalm 139:13-14 – For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

Psalm 127:3 – Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

Jeremiah 1:5 – Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

Isaiah 44:24 – Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself.

We are fearfully and wonderfully made – God so loves the world – God is no respecter of persons – so we stand where the Word of God stands. Every person is a living soul, life begins with conception. We want to protect and respect every life and then do everything we possibly can to point everyone we possibly can to the Saviour, Jesus Christ.

God has not changed His mind about the sanctity of life. While men’s laws, societal norms, and current thought may change, the Word of God never will. What does GOD think? The God of life hates the shedding of innocent blood (Proverbs 6:17). So should we.
