This is not the worst time to be alive and serving God – this is the best time! Never before have people been more hopeless and searching. Never before has the coming of Christ been closer. Never before has the church been more relevant. We have truth that everyone needs.
Haggai 2:7 says of the future of this world: “And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the LORD of hosts.” Christ IS “the desire of all nations.” People do not know what they are looking for, but it is Jesus! And, yes, He is coming. The tremors we feel now are nothing compared to what will happen when He shakes the earth.
Read through the book of Acts again. In many ways, the church age is winding down just as it began, with both persecution and power. Evil men will always do their worst and speak against the good, but God is greater than them all (2 Timothy 3:13-14). This is what the church was built for!
Just this week I heard the words of My Anchor Holds and they did my soul so much good:
The anchor holds
Though the ship is battered,
The anchor holds
Though the sails are torn.
Though the ship is battered,
The anchor holds
Though the sails are torn.
I have fallen on my knees
As I faced the raging seas,
The anchor holds
In spite of the storm.
As I faced the raging seas,
The anchor holds
In spite of the storm.
Let the storm rage on – the old ship of Zion is not going down! We are anchored in Heaven. Hebrews 6:18-20 says, “That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil; Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus…”
We have Him and He has us. Soon the whole world will see HIm.
This is not time to whine, time to worry, or time to wander. And there is no time to waste! This is prime time for churches to witness. Shortly this generation of believers will meet Jesus and answer for the witness we gave of Him at this moment in history. May God help us not to miss our time.
