Bob and Betty Crichton
The Lord brings people into your life at just the right time and for many reasons. At certain junctures on the journey, He allows individuals to cross your path to help you find direction. Several years ago when I was serving at the Temple Baptist Church and Crown College, God providentially brought Bob Crichton to serve on our staff. He was a long-time, personal friend of Pastor Sexton and he quickly became a dear friend and invaluable counselor to me.
In the most challenging season of my life, as I was trying to discern what the God was doing in my heart, Bob Crichton served as the Lord’s messenger. He is a Spirit-filled man and a man of prayer, a man of unique insight and discernment. Many preachers, young and old, could testify of the encouragement and investment he has made.
Brother Crichton pastored a dynamic church for many years in New England. He served on our college staff and faculty for 12 years and has done extensive evangelistic work. Bob has dealt with disappointment and adversity like so many of the Lord’s servants, but he has kept the joy of Christ. He is a humble and happy Christian, who is always a great refreshment to my spirit.
I am thrilled to announce that Brother Crichton is coming on the Enjoying the Journey team this year. He has already been a big part of the prayer team, but we are excited about him laboring with us for several special projects. He and I had the opportunity recently to spend a few days in Northfield, Massachusetts at the home place of Evangelist D.L. Moody. You cannot be around Brother Crichton for any length of time without hearing him quote Mr. Moody or share some lesson learned from his life! Moody’s passion for the gospel is deeply in the heart of my friend, Bob Crichton, and I know he will be a tremendous help in advancing that cause at this time.
Bob and Betty currently make their home in Florida, but he will be spending several months each year ministering in the Northeast. It is our hope that we will be able to host ETJ events in that region in the days ahead. Bob will be traveling and ministering in local churches and is available now for meetings. Our recent ETJ Legacy reprint of R.A. Torrey’s classic, Why God Used D.L. Moody, was dedicated to Brother Crichton. His heart truly burns to see another generation of Christian workers filled with the Spirit and used to advance the cause. Thank you for praying for the Crichton’s and for all of those who labor with us “for the furtherance of the gospel.”
