Enjoying the Journey for the Holidays Scott Pauley

the holidays, Thank the Lord, Thanksgiving Bible Study, Study of 1 Chronicles 16
Like so many of you, we are excited about spending some time with those we love over the next few weeks. As we grow older and more of our family and friends go to Heaven, the more we treasure seasons together with one another. Make the most of every opportunity to be with your family and church family.
These are busy days and schedules are often crazy in the closing weeks of the year. Time in the Word and moments with the Lord help to keep our hearts in tune with God and our mind fixed on what truly matters. It is our prayer that the upcoming Enjoying the Journey episodes will help to that end.

Thanksgiving Truth

Frequently I hear someone say, “Thank the Lord.” A fitting response to any kindness and goodness we enjoy, because it all comes from Him! 1 Chronicles 16 is one of the most beautiful and least studied of the Psalms of David. Read it slowly and you will see the repeated refrain – Thank the Lord! Gather your family and listen together if possible to this brief Thanksgiving week study. I hope it will work in your heart as it has my own. May God help us all to give thanks – on purpose.

A Month of Christmas

Many of our current listeners do not know that ETJ actually began 7 years ago in December, and our first episodes were Christmas studies. As we celebrate this season and the conclusion of our 7th year of broadcasts, I thought it would be nice to share the original programs again. Each week has a unique emphasis, but every week has one message…the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ!
  • Week 1: The Name of Jesus
  • Week 2: Christmas Beginnings
  • Week 3: Christ in Christmas
  • Week 4: Christmas Characters
This would be a great series to share with family and friends who need Christ. Ask someone to listen along with you. We believe that they can be used to open meaningful gospel conversations with many.

The Weekend Pulpit

We have been overwhelmed by the response to the full length Bible messages that are shared each weekend. This is no substitute for being under the preaching and teaching of the Word in your local church, but we are grateful that we can share these sermons that have been given in recent meetings. The Holidays are a time for family, and for the next several weeks we are excited to share a series of messages given in a family camp earlier this year. Listen each Saturday to one of these messages on the home.
Did you know that the word “holiday” actually comes from holy day? (Read more on Turning a Holiday Into a Holy Day.) It is a reminder that all ground should be holy ground for a child of God. Wherever you are, and whatever you have planned, I hope you will join us on Enjoying the Journey for the Holidays. Determine to make every day a holy day by living consciously in the presence of the holy God.

Mathematically, it is impossible that one man could fulfill so many unique prophecies, many of which were related to the actions of others toward him. How can you orchestrate your death in such a specific manner i.e. By crucifixion (not invented) between criminals, being given vinegar to drink while dying, being killed at the hands of the Gentiles, after being betrayed by your dear friend? These are a fraction of the hundreds of such prophecies Jesus fulfilled. It is only possible if that Man was the God-man - Jesus Christ. Our Approach The prophecies in our list are many of those connected to the circumstances, surroundings, characteristics, events, manners, and traits that the Lord Jesus fulfilled during His earthly ministry. It is by no means comprehensive but serves as a reference and devotional guide to those seeking the Lord Jesus. Types and figures have been omitted, for they are woven throughout the entirety of Scripture. Truly, every part of the Written Word points to the Word made flesh, Who dwelt among us (John 1:14). We trust this list of 55 prophecies about the first coming of Christ will serve to demonstrate the total confidence you can have that Jesus is the Messiah, the Redeemer, The Son of God.
