Names of God

There is no name like the name of our great God! The apostles said of the name of Jesus, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). We are told in Philippians 2:9, “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name.” I say again: There is no name like THE NAME!

The varied names and titles of God found throughout Scripture are full of meaning. They are more than identification – they are a revelation of the very character of our Lord. The name of God is connected to the nature of God.

As we begin this season of celebrating the birth of Christ it is important to remember that Christ did not begin in Bethlehem and that the Bible is a progressive revelation of the one, true and living God. The Jehovah of the Old Testament was revealed in the Jesus of the New Testament. From Genesis to Revelation the LORD is simply helping us to know Himself.

We took 30 studies to examine THE NAME of God found in the Word of God. It cannot be exhaustive but I hope it will open your understanding to the power of THE NAME and help you to love Him more than ever. Here is a general overview of our study:

The faith has been entrusted to us. It is our responsibility to contend for it in our generation from the darkness around us.

Journey Through Jude

Like a relay race, God’s men in every generation are called on to faithfully carry the baton and pass it on to those coming behind them. In the pastor’s role, it is not a baton that he passes, but a shepherd’s staff. A Conversation about Pastoral Transition.
