How Can We Pray For You? Scott Pauley

Recently I have had several kind believers come to me in meetings and ask, “What can we pray for you and your family specifically?” Nothing could be more encouraging! Such a question reveals that the people are not simply saying they will pray, but that they plan to pray – and pray specifically.

The Lord Jesus said, “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you” (Matthew 7:7). Each verb grows more intense. Each command teaches us something about effective prayer…

  • Ask: pray definite prayers.
  • Seek: pray expectant prayers.
  • Knock: pray persistent prayers.

The thing for which I am praying right now is for souls to be saved. Many of you subscribe to our posts and keep up with the resources that we offer. Over the last couple of weeks I have posted fewer articles due to a more intense travel schedule. This is a heavy season for meetings. If I could ask you to do one thing for us at this time it would be to pray with us that God would be pleased to use us.

We are approaching a number of great gospel efforts through the God Bless America Rally and the WVGrads Baccalaureate service, along with our regular weekly meetings. Thank you for being one of our praying friends and for praying specifically. Please keep asking, seeking, and knocking!

Along with this prayer principle Christ gave us His personal promise, “For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened” (Matthew 7:8).

I want to be one of the “every one.” Send us your prayer requests anytime and we will be honored to join with you in prayer as well. How can we pray for you?

Moses Seat found in an ancient synagogue in Chorazin, in Galilee. The seat was located just inside the door of the synagogue and bears an Aramaic inscription with the name of the donor Yudan, the son of Yishmael who paid for building of the seat and its platform. (The seat pictured here is a replica placed where the original was found. The original is now in the Israel Museum.) Photo by John Buckner. Among other finds, the researchers found a synagogue built from the local volcanic basalt stones. Inside the synagogue, beside the ark where the biblical scrolls were stored, was a seat. It has been identified by many scholars as Moses’ Seat. Although it dates to after the time of Christ, this find is a remarkable fusion of biblical text and archeology. It illuminates the words of Matthew and shows us the custom He referenced.
