Each month this year we are offering a free resource to help encourage Christians and churches. These tools are designed to encourage prayer, Bible reading, witnessing, and personal ministry to others. I hope you will use them and pass them along!

Several months ago I wrote in my private journal a simple prayer concerning the Word of God. With the help of some precious friends we have taken those thoughts and created a beautiful devotional bookmark.

On the back of the bookmark you will find 7 simple suggestions on how to read the Word of God more effectively. It can be used to mark where you are reading in the Scriptures each day and will encourage you to pray and read with definite purpose.

In recent meetings we have made these bookmarks available and they have been very well received. A businessman that I talked with recently on a plane just wrote to tell me that he was using his every evening as he read the Bible and that the Lord had used it to help him.

Download the bookmark HERE.

If you would like to order a number of these to pass along to your church, Sunday School class, or family we would be happy to work with you to provide them. Any donation that you would like to give to help offset the cost would be greatly appreciated.

Within the text, John opens and closes his thoughts with the idea of "believeth." Sandwiched between are details concerning being "born of God"; conversion, compassion, conduct, and conquest. These details give clarity to three aspects of the Christian life: faith, love, and obedience. When present, they testify to the validity that one has been "born of God."

The word for wilderness is “meedbar,” (מדבר). This word is spelled exactly the same in the Hebrew text as “he speaks, or I speak.” He speaks/I speak is written the same (מדבר) but pronounced differently “meh-dah-ber.” Ancient readers of the Hebrew Bible saw these words and linked them in their minds. Therefore, the wilderness must be the place where He speaks to you. The spectacular cliffs of Sede Boger in the south of Israel near Beersheba. It has been identified by some scholars with the Wilderness of Zin, which is mentioned in several places in Numbers and Deuteronomy. It is a popular destination for modern hikers and climbers.
