“Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; and in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God” (Philippians 1:27-28).
We live in a world saturated by sin. The forces of wickedness have united to enslave the lost and corrupt the saved. Sadly, too many of God’s children do not realize the united front believers face. Satan and his forces are fighting. They are attacking homes, invading minds, disrupting societies, and waging war on churches. There is no time for distractions. We cannot afford to be divided from within; we need one another.
Cities around the world are covered in darkness, yet at this moment in our world, there is a spiritual hunger most of us have never seen. We cannot miss the moment! We must labor together for the cause of Christ. In the coming days, we are excited to join a group of pastors, evangelists, and local churches here in West Virginia. Those who know and obey God’s eternal truth must take it to a broken world, desperately searching for the truth.
“In One Spirit With One Mind”
We need the mind of God. If the army of God wants to move forward in victory, our eyes must be fixed on our Captain- the Lord Jesus. As we seek the Lord in His Word, we find His mind. The greatest battlefield in life is the mind, and having the mind of Christ is the only way to true victory. Philippians 2 provides us with the greatest example: our Lord Jesus Christ. Allow Christ Jesus to develop His mind in you. (Listen to Scott’s teaching on these verses HERE.) “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” (Psalm 133:1).
“Striving together for the Faith of the gospel”
God has gifted his children perfectly for His work. He has placed different people within the local body of believers to carry out the work of the ministry (1 Corinthians 12). But Scripture also provides numerous examples of believers working with other local church bodies for the sake of the gospel (see Acts 11, Romans 15:26). During Paul’s ministry, many fellow-laborers came alongside him to further the cause of Christ; for example: Aquila and Priscilla, Titus, Epaphras, Epaphroditus, Timothy, and others. The work of God moves forward as the people unite under the Word of God. Local churches, evangelists, missionaries, and every believer must labor together to reach the lost.
We are grateful to join such a group in the coming week. The AWAKE 2025 is a region-wide revival meeting taking place in north central West Virginia. It is a collaborative effort by over 20 churches. Many of the pastors have been praying weekly for over 10 years that God would stir in that city. Together, we are seeking God and asking Him to move in our state. We pray that God will awaken His people and work mightily among the lost. You can join us for a week of worship, prayer, and powerful messages from guest evangelists. Learn more in the video below:
“In Nothing Terrified by Your Adversaries”
As in any gospel effort, the adversaries will fight. Satan hates God and wants nothing more than to hinder His eternal work. Commit to pray for the gospel work in your own life. Seek God on behalf of your city. Intercede for a missionary, pastor, evangelist, or gospel laborers in other parts of the world. Often, the true battle is waged in the prayer closet. We must advance in spite of the opposition for the cause of Christ. While addressing his work in Ephesus, the Apostle Paul wrote that, “a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.”
Matthew Henry wrote, “Adversaries and opposition do not break the spirits of faithful and successful ministers, but warm their zeal, and inspire them with fresh courage.” There is great work to be done. As fellow laborers, we must be faithful.
Are you laboring for the gospel? If not, begin today. If you are, continue for the glory of God!
